Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Community Members,
My name is Nick Liu, and I am incredibly excited to welcome you to the twelfth iteration of Yale Model United Nations Taiwan, held March 13-15, 2026, in Taipei, Taiwan.
For over a decade, it has been our honor to facilitate connections between bright minds through a weekend of intellectual discussion, debate, and collaboration. Amidst ongoing threats to higher education and rising tensions at home and abroad, our Secretariat believes that commitment to global citizenship, international education, and enabling the potential of tomorrow’s leaders has become more important than ever. We hope that through an enriching conference experience, we are able to affirm the value of engaged learning for all.
Next March, YMUNT XII will feature nine committees led by Yale undergraduates who hail from a broad range of academic disciplines and backgrounds. We are eager to present another diverse spread of Model UN simulation structures and topics — General Assemblies, Economic and Social Councils, Regional Bodies, and Specialized Committees — focused both on Taiwan- and region-specific issues and themes of broader international address. Delegates will be able to learn about the challenges and rewards of real-world changemaking from our Keynote Speaker and engage with a range of nonprofit sector professionals at our Community Fair. They’ll experience our Directors’ personal academic interests through a series of interactive Workshops and gain insight into what the experiences of international students studying at US colleges look like at the Life at Yale panel.
As always, our team is committed to fostering an academic environment that is welcoming to all. Our Committees team will update training materials, organize virtual introductory events, and host a live MUN training session prior to the start of the conference. Each of our directors will host online Office Hours for their delegates, provide assessments of submitted position papers, and give live feedback to delegates during the conference.
This year, we are excited to be bringing a larger team of Yale students to Taipei. Larger committees will feature an extra director, ensuring that each delegate receives strong individualized attention and feedback. To celebrate all of the contributions that our community members make towards the conference, we will be incorporating new Ambassador, Community, and Advisor awards alongside traditional Model UN recognitions.
Through our partnership with Assured Asset Management, we are proud to be launching a brand-new merit scholarship program to recognize distinguished students and emerging leaders in our community. For next year’s conference, a cohort of Assured YMUNT Scholars will receive fee waivers, stipends, and distinguished recognitions from the conference. Information about the merit scholarship program—application dates, deadlines, and materials—will be released by the end of September.
Registration for YMUNT XII will open on October 15, 2025. As a waitlist will be opened once we reach 350 students registered, we encourage you to register as soon as possible to secure spots for your delegation. Our Secretariat is thrilled to be able to return to Taiwan to serve the regional MUN community again next March, and cannot wait to further fortify our commitments to open dialogue and opportunity. I look forward to meeting you all then!
